Trying to get a loan with no credit?

i was declined by the navy federal credit union because i have no credit history, and because i'm only 18 i guess. i'm not even going to bother with the big banks. i'm now talking with american general and i'm only working part time until next month (about 20 hours + 7.55 an hour). i was a full time student so that looks over 5 years + of work experience. i'm living with family. my dad is cosigning for me (and also paying half the loan), and he has good history with them. they said they'll see what they can do for me and let me know if not today, than tomorrow. i'm requesting $4000. do i have a snowballs chance in hell?
