Where is the best place for me to do home recording?

I am a rapper and I've been in the studio many times before but I want to just record at home sometimes for fun... I know it don't compare to studio quality but it also allows me practice my songs and learn mixing.. I have a small extra bedroom that I don't use for anything and now use that as a studio. Right now I record out in the open with no pop filter, usb mic, (blue snowball) and it actually sounds ok. But will i get better sound with recording in the closet or in the middle of the room. It is a 10X14 room.. I also have a spot in the room made for a Tv with walls in between that maybe ok. But which would be best. I am getting a pop filter this week and new mic stand... Should I get sound absorbing foam also.
